about

Composed, performed, recorded by Dean Graham Wolfe
On and On recorded in Toronto; Spark of Light recorded in Brampton Ontario, Story Time recorded in San Francisco California, remainder of music in Victoria BC Canada.
total running time: 28:25

Maze:

Flamenco-inspired steel string. This was recorded in my bedroom spontaneously one afternoon. I realized later how interesting a piece it was and how deep the Spanish music influences run in my consciousness.

Story Time:

I recorded this in San Francisco...in a closet! i was in an apartment not far from the main highway through town that leads straight to the Golden Gate Bridge (which is a beautiful red colour, so why 'golden'?). I used a great mandolin i ordered off eBay and resold before moving back to Canada. Always regretted that move, so happy when a used one of the same models came up locally. Look forward to playing it.

The Fish are Jumping (Canadian River):

Don't recall when or how this tune came about. Just that it was a really fun one to play. It got picked up for prominent use an award winning Indian documentary of 2016/2017 called 'Nagaland is Changing, but..."

Spark of Light:

Wrote this in London Ontario in the early 90s. It was just an instrumental but became the basis of a singer/songwriter tune for my debut solo CD 11:59 on which cellos and vocals were added to the composition.

Advice for Solo:

is from a song called 'advice' on an early CD originally recorded in my basement in Toronto. It has some funny and silly lyrics, but the basis of the song was just instrumental music which was conceived in London Ontario as a very young guitarist...maybe i was 19?

Locomotive Motive:

written while on vacation i believe, in northern Ontario. I was a chef at the time and was doing lots of finger style works. Unfortunately i didn't record them all and some great ones are lost for now.

Perpetual

wrote this in London Ontario on a nylon string guitar i had at the time i was apprenticing to be a chef. This is recorded on steel string of necessity but i am going to do a nylon string version soon.

On and On:

inspired and written at the time of the Chilean Mining Accident. The last of the trapped miners were finally rescued after 69 days. The song title refers to the incredibly long cable that pulled up a one man rescue capsule.

Silent Night:

I wrote this at home in Toronto around Christmas time. It has an un-traditional swing to it.
