about

I've always loved ambient music. Cubic Pi was a pseudonym I briefly used for such projects.

The curious radio burst sound heard on the opening track (and some subsequent tracks) is an audio translation of a FRB, (fast radio burst). These are bright, unresolved, broadband, millisecond flashes found in parts of the sky outside the Milky Way. In radio astronomy, an FRB is a high-energy astrophysical phenomenon of unknown origin manifested as a transient radio pulse lasting only a few milliseconds. (source: Wikipedia) One hypothosis is that the phenomenon is not naturally occurring at all, but have artificial origins.

Dean G Wolfe, who creates these tracks under the 'Cubic Pi' moniker, uses a multi-looper and an array of effects pedals to modify his electric guitar and cello. The pieces are not perfect nor edited afterwards but are considered single performances captured for eternity (videos are created live with each song).
